The pendulum is used to answer questions like an oracle and also locate people and things. Try the following pendulum exercises to see how psychic you are!
A small weight at the end of a chain or string is basically what a pendulum is. Pendulums are not just used in clocks, in fact they can be used for divination, dowsing and scrying. While a pendulum is an inanimate object, it can provide a link to sources of psychic information, including your higher self, the angels or helper spirits. That link is strengthened the more you work with the pendulum. Others believe that pendulums access the collective unconscious and that’s how an accurate pendulum reading works. Some believe that the pendulum has its own special spirit and that it is this spirit that acts as oracle. However it works, a pendulum is often the best way to start out on divination or psychic work as it is very easy for even a complete beginner to use.
Most psychics who work with pendulums recommend that you ‘bless’ them before you work with them. This can be in any way you see fit. Personally I like smudging (passing through smoke) mine with sage. This ensures that only higher, helpful spirit come to answer you and not malicious lower ones who can confuse matters.
How To Use A Pendulum
Holding the pendulum out in front of you, hold the top of the chain loosely between forefinger and thumb. You need to establish with the pendulum what is ‘yes’ and ‘no’ before you start each question session. Ask the pendulum to show you ‘yes’ and note which way it moves, be it in clockwise circles, counter clockwise or up and down. Then ask what ‘no’ is and make a note of which way the pendulum moves now. You may ask the pendulum to stop between questions to avoid confusion or you can physically stop it yourself.
After you have established ‘yes’ and ‘no’, ask the pendulum a few obvious questions like ‘am I the Queen’ to ensure that it is answering true. If it doesn’t answer true, it may not want to answer questions that day and you should try again another day.
Think about how you are going to frame your questions. Something like ‘will I be happy?’ is a nonsensical question as inevitably at some stage of your life you will be happy but it is a transitory feeling. A better question would be ‘will getting a new job make me happier at this time?’ Pay attention to what you are asking and don’t be tempted to ask again if you receive an answer you don’t like.
Map Dowsing
You can fuse a pendulum over a map to find anything you wish to locate. This method is often used for water dowsing for water. The dowser moves the pendulum slowly over a map of the place in question and stops where he or she feels a change in the pendulum’s movement. Sometimes this can be quite a violent, fast circular motion. Map dowsing has also been used by psychics to locate missing people. A more pleasant way of using map dowsing is to use it to find good restaurants or pubs or camp sites in an area you have never been to before.
Practise
Whether a pendulum works through your subconscious, the collective unconscious, or through higher entities, it nevertheless works better the more you use it and over time. Put aside half an hour daily to work with your pendulum. Don’t just ask questions to do with your own life, try asking political questions and anything else that interests you. Admittedly you are limited to ‘yes’ and ‘no’ answers but most questions can answered as long as they are phrased well. You can also find out a movement for ‘maybe’ answer, try rephrasing the question. If that doesn’t work then accept that perhaps there is no definite answer this time. Above all, enjoy the process of working with a pendulum and know that it is enhancing your psychic development question by question.
